How Darren filled my Blogging life with Optimism and Hope

0saves

Today I want to continue with my ongoing blogging success stories. For all of you who are new to blogging, especially in Fashion Blogging today topic is about the optimism. Way back in 2010 I met a person called Darren Rowse, who is a world famous blogger. Back then I was a newbie and learning blogging skills from various successful bloggers and SEO specialists. Darren is one of them. I attended one of his seminars about blogging for newbies where he explains various methods to become a successful blogger. The day has changed my life and blogging career forever.

As I told you all on my previous story how I become a successful Fashion Blogger from a newbie, Darren’s speech on that day not only motivates me for blogging, but also filled my inner-self with Optimism. There are tons of Indian bloggers who are trying to make their mark on the bloggoshere but failed due to lack of motivation or right skills. The day Darren teaches about small steps such as creating a blog post, share it with friends and family, ask them to share, make it available for social media sites and so on. In short those are the off-page promotion and SEO. On our blog we have to do some on-Page SEO as well to let search engines such as Google, Bing to know about us.

Last week one of my readers asked me about my motivation behind my blogging, today’s post is all about answering that. Darren’s seminar not only inspires me but also it gives me hope and optimism that even though I have very limited resource I can be a successful blogger one day.

After all these years I have become a complete tech savvy and running three of my blogs – two of them are fashion related and one is  pure mobile technology. Last January when one of my cousins was moving to Bangalore, her parents were too much worried. I called them to my home, invited them to sat in-front of my laptop and opened Housing.com – a complete solution for her living in the alien city. Through housing.com’s optimal image browsing options, quickly they shortlisted three flats for her. After selecting they called the flat owner to finalize the best one for her. The best part, even though they were sitting at my room, they virtually visited the houses via their on site Maps.

After finalized the flat for their daughter, they thanks for the help, But I was really wanted to thank Darren and the technology itself. Years back all these people were against my blogging and now they all thanked me – this transformation filled my inner self with optimism and joy to even more good things with my blogging.

If you have any story of yourself where you feel you have made a change in someone’s life do let us know.

Together We Rock – The Story of our success

0saves

Couple of nights back I shared the story of mine – how I become a Fashion blogger from a newbie in blogging. Today I want to share yet another true story about myself which not only includes me, but yet another very important person of my blogging – Sandip. By the way he used to call himself Sandy and you can check out his photography on this Facebook Page. Last week the entire nation celebrated Holi festival. In Bengal we call it Dol Yatra – and the best part we have it a day before Holi, so you can say we have two days of color festival. This year we planned to visit few rural part of Bengal to see how they celebrate Holi and Dol Yatra.

The day before Dol Yatra, we visited the placed called Shantiniketan, which is popular for World famous Rabindra Nath Tagor and Dol festival. Sandy is an awesome photographer and in the past we covered many Fashion Shows here in Kolkata and beyond.

Three years back when we met for the first time we both were in the same profession an d he was a part time photographer chasing his dreams to become a full timers and I was a part time blogger, desperately want to become a full time blogger. We covered Kolkata Fashion week followed by few others shows. Sometimes I was the inspiration behind his creativities; sometimes he surprises me with his mind-boggling conceptualizations.

Last year he became a full time photographer and quit his day job, currently he is doing freelancing as well as photography for my blogs. If you are an upcoming model and want to create your portfolio, he’s one of the best to do this in Kolkata.

Together we rock as we both know each other very well and become strength of each other. He motivates me for my blogs and I motivate him for his photography. He takes awesome nature pictures (you can check out the slideshow below). I always give him a push to become a nature photographer and together we are planning to start a photoblog soon.

Late last year when he shared his desire to move in to the city, we both sat one fine evening together and selected a perfect rented home for him through Housing.com. Time is money and with such busy work schedule finding a home is very easy thanks to their awesome Mapping system and fully described available facilities. We chatted with the landlord way before we visited the actual house to make sure we are on the right track and this is the house he wanted to rent.

You can check out his creativities on his Facebook Page. Here are few images he has taken this year Dol Yatra; Have a look:

From newbie to Fashion Blogger – my story to start a new life

0saves

In 2003, I got my first hands on to a computer (ahem! I know pretty late), I knew since that day this is what will be my future! Since then I know pretty crazy about the World Wide Web and it’s blessings. In 2007 I have started my first blog. It was a photoblog, so I wasn’t much contributing much to the community, but I was a complete newbie into the blogging world. There were countless hours I have spent on YouTube and reading other blogs to learn about how to start and run a blog. It was 2009 when I told my family members that I want to pursue my career into blogging. At first I faced great challenge to make my family understood what blogging is. My closest friends were laughing at me. That’s what ignites the fire to shut them all once by earning my money from blogging. In 2010 I purchased a doming IndianFashionTrends.com and started writing on it.

While learning about blogging online, I came to know that Google AdSense is the best way to earn money for a small blogger like me, so I applied for the same and guess what I was rejected! I was heart-broken. I searched for the alternative money making options but there was no place for a new blogger to make legitimate amount of money. So I search and search for the answer why Google rejected my application (blog). After I found out the reason, I became more serious about getting the approval from them.

Long 7 months of wait was over when in 2010 I got the approval from them, that where I have started a new life. Quickly I understood, free hosting isn’t the ideal thing to get noticed by the big brands and celebrities, so after making few thousand bucks, I convinced myself to spend some money and purchased a hosting plan and see what big change it will make to my blogging career. Within the next 45 days I was contacted by one of the big brands from UK to promote their products through my blog. It was the first breakthrough. When I was struggling, my dad used to tell me “Start a new life”, after holding the first payment, I told him it has started!

Its human nature to fear the new things, we always resists change, but those who do have the guts to do things what they believe in, they make change to the society. Today I am a full time blogger running as much as 3 blogs actively. Earlier this year I even rented a small office so that I can concentrate on my work even more. Thanks to housing.com it was an easy job, their cool Android app let me search my desired property from my home comfort.

So this is my story where I dare to dream – to become a full time blogger where I can run my family with the money I earn from blogging. If you have a story to share where you also started a new life use the #StartANewLife and inspire someone else.

How to Pair Black Dog with Your Favorite Chocolate – A Guide

0saves

I was researching on the topic of Chocolate & Scotch paring together for a while, so I combined many flavors of chocolate with various Black Dog variants to figure out which one is the most suitable with which flavor.

Scotch and Chocolate pairing

Scotch and Chocolate

While pairing chocolate and scotch collectively, take the scotch on a palate & move it around the mouth for few seconds and let the flavors assemble. Then swallow it, and after that linger for a few seconds. Now put a bit of chocolate on your tongue. Its time to get pleasure from both of them as chocolate melts slowly and both chocolate and scotch comes together. The face of your tongue will taste the sweetness, the back will tang bitter taste and the sides will notice an acerbic taste. Keep in mind & always allow the chocolate to liquefy, do not chew it to diminish the taste of the scotch. As the chocolate melts, more flavors will be unconstrained.

Black Dog Celebrating 130 Years

Keep in mind that chocolate helps to circumvent alcohol blaze and helps you to get the awesome taste of the Scotch. But keep in mind that as not every chocolate tastes the same, same is true for scotches. Honey and Hazelnut bout with the Golden color and sweetness of Honey will match with the honey flavored in Black Dog Centenary which is the Black Dog 8YO Scotch. If you like the chocolate with a taste of Ginger, then it will go with the Black Dog Quintessence or the 21 Year Old variant of the Black Dog family.

If you are like me then you may like to have the chocolate which has butterscotch flavor; in that case, it can perfectly match with Black Dog 18 YO which is also popular among its drinker as BD Centenary. In today’s big retails store you will find many chocolates that come with Almond and Cashew flavors, those kinds of chocolates can be consumed with Black Dog Quintessence.

Enjoying Holi with Friends & Black Dog – Part Three

0saves

We all were playing Holi with much fun, joy & lots of colors, only Adi was bit depressed but we knew sooner or later Zubia will join us. So we were enjoying our play. All of a sudden Zubi jumped from no where with a bucket of red color. Adi was so thrilled to watch Zubi joined us. As we all know that the tradition of Holi is to drink ‘Bhang’ but we all had a different plan, we lined up few bottles of Black Dog 8yrs aka BD Centenary, alongside BD 12yrs aka BD Deluxe, I had a bottle of BD 18yrs aka BD Reserve on my car’s dickey, but as usual it was for the evening chill out.

Black Dog

We had a bug bucket where we mixed both the variants of Black Dog & during play we enjoy it as a refresher. We had a lot’s of fun & at the end we all jumped together on the pool to clean the things.

Black Dog 18 Y.O

At the evening we all dance together & not to mention enjoying our favorite foods along with BD Centenary. After the dinner we all teasing Adi to propose Zubia; that poor chap was on cloud nine after hearing Zubia saying “Aditya is very nice guy, I like him a lot”. He though that it’s a yes from her end. We insisted Adi to give it a try. We proposed her after offering her a glass of her beloved scotch the BD Deluxe. But Zubia, the Pyscho cunningly refused him by saying she’s not thinking about any serious relationship now as she has a long & prosperous future plan.

At night we all grabbed our bean bags & couches to watch an awesome romantic Hollywood movie. Many of us enjoyed the splendid aroma of BD Reserve – A truly noble spray of succulent malty tones and rich smooth textures with a tip-off of oloroso sherry in the background.

I asked Shilpa (one of close friend from school) how was the taste, she said just mind blowing, and I’m trying this variant of the Black Dog for the first time & if’s Round and mellow complex quixotic flavors with an unimpeachable balance of individual malt and grain whiskies and silky pliable tones that dance on the tongue.

After a long time I enjoyed the festival of color, fun & togetherness, for a long long time I will remember this year’s Holi as a very special occasion, not because we met with our old friends, but the way we played together, danced together & enjoy our favorite Scotch Black Dog together.

Enjoying Holi with Friends & Black Dog

0saves

First of all wish you & your family a very happy & colorful holi, hope you had a great day! Mine was just unbelievable. At around 7am I received a call from my school friend Zubia, who shifted to London last summer. She wakes me & tells me to get ready as soon as possible. Initially I though she was kidding, but when she said she is in the city & coming towards my house, that was a bombshell. Well she was one hot chic but a bit psycho!

BD Centenary

BD Centenary

I jumped from my bed & hit the shower, while preparing my breakfast, she knocked my door. We had our breakfast together. During it I asked her, what she is doing here. She explained she’s here for an office assignment & she has to capture few colorful images for her magazine back London. BTW she is an awesome photographer since school days. I said I had already booked schedule with Simran & other school buddies, so it will be a great Holi gift for them as well, she jumped & agreed with me to join.

We had our party at Aditya’s farm house just outside of the city; it’s an awesome place to relaxing & chilling out. The farm house is full of trees & an awesome swimming pool. All welcomed Zubia & appreciate her progress in life & as I mentioned earlier she she’s a bit psycho, she strictly instructed everyone to not pour any color on her expensive dress or on her camera.

Aditya who was flirting with Zubia since school days instructed us to follow her instructions & not to cross a 3fts radius of her. She was impressed. Adi brings her a glass of drink, when she asked what’s that, he explained that he wants her to relax & unwind with this awesome Black Dog Centenary & take her best shots of us.

…FEW MINUTES BACK…Adi visited me & said, finally he’s ready to tell her his feelings, but before that he needs to impress her with something. I knew Zubu is a big Black Dog Scotch fan, so I told me to bring the bottle from my car & serve her personally.

Black Dog Celebrating 130 Years

It’s worked! She was enjoying every bit of it by closing her eyes & she said …”umm…I just love the aroma of BD 8YO: Its Matured wood, toasted malt, mild honey sweetness, delicate butterscotch bordering on cream, with floral nuances that emerges at the end makes me crazy. Adi was highly flabbergasted as it really worked.

5 Killer Tips for First Time Scotch Drinker – A Must Read

0saves

Today I’m going to discuss a very important topic for those who haven’t taste the amber gold colored Bold and magnificent Scotch, then you must not make any further hindrance. But before you sink your lips into it, here are some killer tips to make your experience a more stirring one:

Black Dog

Black Dog

Single-malt vs. blended-scotch – which is better?: It’s all a matter of taste preference. Single-malt simply suggests that a product made with malted-barley whisky from one distillery. This will mean totally different barrels or batches from the one distillery, and also the year on the label indicates the youngest barrel used in the product. Black Dog Quintessence is an awesome example of single malt premium Scotch whisky. An integrated scotch may be a product created with whisky from two or more totally different distilleries. It’s also more common for integrated scotch to use totally different grain scotches, like barley, wheat, corn, etc. The Black Dog Centenary aka 12YO is a perfect for any blended Scotch lover.

Older doesn’t equal better: Once again, it depends on the consumer & his/her taste, but keep in mind that a Scotch is not a Wine, so it’s not always true that ‘Older is Better’. A younger scotch may taste more fruity, with hints of vanilla. An older scotch may have a more intricate essence, with hints of caramel. The longer a scotch is aged in an oak cask, the more it will pick up flavor from the cask. The color of scotch is also resolute by the cask. A shady scotch has more prone to aged in an ex-sherry cask. Color is also exaggerated when the grain has been dry-smoked. The Black Dog Centenary which is a 8yrs old variant, BD Deluxe is 12 yrs old, Black Dog Reserve is an perfect example of 18 yrs old Scotch whereas the most expensive as well as finest true Scotch Whisky is Black Dog Quintessence which is 21yrs old.

Black Dog Celebrating 130 Years

Black Dog Celebrating 130 Years

Scotch is best served in tulip glasses: Instead of large glasses try to savor your Scotch (preferable Black Dog’s variants for best taste, aroma & overall experience) in a Tulip Glass, which is meant to incarcerate the aroma of the scotch. A wine glass is a good alternate. If neither is available, a low-ball is suitable.

Don’t swirl: You may be tempted to swirl your scotch, but resist the enticement! Swirling releases alcohol, which may overwhelm the true taste and aroma of the scotch.

Scotch is best served at room warmth: conventionally, scotch is served with a side of spring water. Add water, if desired, little by little to your taste. Many might think of avoiding the water, but reality adding adequate amount of water will enrich the taste of the Scotch. If you do prefer cold scotch however, pack your glass with ice rather than toting up one or two cubes. More ice will keep your scotch chilled, without diluting it too much.

Me & Simran chatted about half an hour about our past ^ present days, we laughed on all our past silly fights. Then my cell phone rang & I saw one of our friends was calling from the lounge. We joined them for the dinner at the dining area.

Black Dog Celebrating 130 Years

By the time we started main course our talks changed several times and all of us started sweet arguments on the current topic, in fact the argument increased our appetite and we had more food than usual.

As we were ending our main course I proposed to them who want to taste world’s best scotch? Like the school day’s all of them started shouting… Me..Me…Me…

Well all the nearby customers are in a shock as the place was a five star & everybody are so aristocrat in nature, those might even thinking, who are those hooligans? But does it matter to us? Hell No…I ordered a fresh bottle of BD Reserve which is the 18 Year Old variant of Black Dog.

The color of it is Deep, golden, glossy and mahogany. Everybody of us just loved the taste of it Round and smooth complex quixotic flavors with an immaculate balance of individual malt and grain whiskies and silky soft tones that dance on the tongue. I explained to them the finishing of BD Reserve, it’s luxuriously smooth and long, a testament to the malt & grain whiskies which have spent 18 long years in oak casks & vats. So pals savor it with every single sip.

We were served some Black Dog which made food so relishing that our conversations took backseat for a while.

Now was time for some lip smacking desserts and desserts combined with black dog is like fruit-salad with ice-cream, yummy and irresistible. It was such a fun-filled treat to all our sense that we decided to have such food n drinks every week n regenerate ourselves…

Cherishing the School Memories with Friends & Black Dog

0saves

After a great party last night, I was very exhausted but due to a meeting at the office I had to go there. At around 2PM, one of my old school friends Tania called me up & invites me for a dinner-cum-re-union of old friends. With no choice left I had to say yes! At around 7PM we all visited the brand new 5 star restaurant in my city. The ambiance of a 5 star restaurant, its service and the staff is a great experience in itself and delicious food along with black dog is so much pleasurable that it makes a normal day into an eventful one…

BD 12 YO

BD 12 YO

All of us checked in and made ourselves comfortable then we opted for the buffet of the hotel and each one of us brought in small portions of starters and salads…

Whilst enjoying starters, all of us had started conversations about our memorable days and how we were friends as well as foes, as we use to fight at little silly things but were still inseparable. Those days were indescribable!

BD 12 YO

BD 12 YO

Few of us were more interested in hogging the delicious food than the conversation, as the food was gulped in and plate became empty each one of us got up to fill in the empty plates and stomach.

One of my closest school buddies is Simran; we had a great time together in school. So we decided to share some old memories together as we were meeting for the first time in over a decade. We silently moved towards the lounge to have a intimate chat in peace over a peg of finest scotch.

I started so Simi, you look nice! With a irate face she reply, “that’s it?” I knew she wants more, so I continued, waiter can we have a glass of best scotch for this hot, tempted, juvenile lady? The waiter delivered a couple of Black Dog Deluxe glasses on the ridge, as I called her hot (BTW She is the hottest of our school as well as college) her temper became a bit low. I continued, so darling, before you start arguing, just enjoy the very best scotch from the highlands of Scotland the Black Dog Deluxe. Enjoy the Robust malty, mellow woody, complex yet delicate aroma of sherry and vanillic sweetness with whispers of soft pettiness in the background.

After the first sip she fells aroused & replied in a soft tone “umm…loved its color, true Amber, with golden highlights.

Natasha introduced me with the boss – Mr. Chopra, who has a passion about rich wines & scotches. He was delighted after came to know that I am also a scotch aficionado. During our discussion about business, sports & politics, he asked me so, which brand according to you is the best brand within the genre of scotch? Without any hesitation I replied, Black Dog Quintessence, sir! Don’t you think so? After a pause, he replied well, I never had the privilege to try it, but heard its good, but I personally prefer something else.

As Natasha was busy with the other guests, I begged pardon from Mr. Chopra for a minute. I even heard he was whispering with the other colleagues of his that, he made me flabbergasted & was laughing about it. I returned back with couple of glasses of whiskies & handed over one glass to Mr. Chopra & said, there you are Sir, this is your brand of scotch & I have mine, let’s enjoy the drink now. After the first sip, he self-righteously replied there you go, this is why I trusted this brand so much, just taste it you poor chap, just smell its aroma – Bold and magnificent. This outstanding blend must be given the veneration and respect it richly deserves.

I was smiling & enjoying my drink, when he finished, I gently asked so you agree that this is the best scotch you have ever tried? He boldly accepts yes! Try it; you will forget your Black Dog in no time! I started smiling once again, made him a bit of uncomfortable. He again tried to play his tricks by saying, so are you agreeing with me? I said no Sir. He then said ok dear just try my brand of scotch. I said, I am already having the same drink which you are holding; the only thing is I am not enjoying your scotch brand, you’re enjoying mine! And you just proclaimed that the scotch you just tasted is the best in the world by far. All the nearby audiences were stunned, after a long pause, Mr. Chopra started laughing & tapped me on my shoulder & said well done Youngman! But tell me what the name of this awesome scotch is? I replied Sir, it’s Black Dog Quintessence, a 21YO variant of the 130 year’s old brand, hope you enjoyed the Intense flavors of Seville oranges, ripe sweet mangoes and ginger spice reward the palate, and then whispers of bitter chocolate, liquorices and crushed almonds drift lovingly on.
